Hi It’s Nicole... I hope everyone is having a great summer. If you have been to the store you might have seen this project on display. I love to make 30x30cm canvases and use lots of different products. . My projects are always very girly with lots of flowers and layers. The background was first painted with Finnabair White Gesso and then I blended several brown colors of Memory Hardware Artisan Powders (Orleans Taupe, French Amber, Parthenay and La Chapeliere Clay). If you havent used Artisan Powders before you really should give them a try. You can use them dry or wet and can apply them in numerous ways. I then applied more white gesso in spots over the Artisan Powder and used a stencil with Finnabair Paper Paste to make a dimensional script. I used the gesso to stiffen cheese cloth and then layered Prima Paper from the Georgia Blues Collection, Snipart chipboard (just arrived to Dairy Hill) and the chesse cloth along with Prima Flowers, Georgia Blues Chipboard. I attached each layer using Finnabair Heavy Body Gel which is one of my favorite go to products. It was made to hold heavy embellishments and multiple layers. If I used regular glue it most likely would eventually fall apart. My last layer is a window frame from Memory Hardware called Venician Shutters. Again Heavy Body gel was the perfect product to attach the window with.
I added Finnabair Art Stones in regular and mega sizes using heavy body gel. I then wet down some Artisan Powder and painted the stones here and there. I added a few more embellishments including crinkled seam binding ribbon, Memory Hardware Avigno Lock & Key, and a butterfly that I made using hot glue and the Redesign with Prima mould Regal Findings. I gave it a quick coat of gesso to bring out the details and then added it to my canvas.
There you have it. All the materials that I used are available at Dairy Hill Vintage Shop or online at www.dairyhillvintage.com .
